Official rules

  1. Free to play, no purchase necessary. Buying the Watchlist does not improve your chances. Open to legal US residents aged 18+. Void where prohibited. One entry per person per week (the latest entry before the deadline counts; extra emails for the same person are disqualified).
  2. Picks: one long stock from our universe (current S&P 500 and Nasdaq-100 members). Submit by Sunday 11:59 PM ET for the week starting the next Monday.
  3. Scoring: your stock's close-to-close return from the prior Friday's close to the following Friday's close (5 trading days), the same window as the bot's pick published that Monday morning (signal from Friday's close). Adjusted closes, no fees. If the market is closed on a day, we use 5 trading days from the entry close.
  4. The bot: the free Pick of the Day published Monday morning. If no bot pick is published that Monday, the bot's return is SPY's return over the same window.
  5. Winner: the highest return that also beats the bot's return. Ties go to the earliest entry. If nobody beats the bot, the bot wins and no prize is awarded that week.
  6. Prizes: weekly winner gets 1 free month of the SetupHits Watchlist ($9 value). Season prizes may be announced. No cash prizes, no cash alternative, not transferable. Winners are contacted by email and must reply within 14 days.
  7. Leaderboard: shows your display name, ticker and result. Your email stays private and is only used to run the contest and contact winners. Offensive names are removed.
  8. Educational only: this is a game for learning, not financial advice or an invitation to trade. Don't trade money you can't afford to lose.
  9. SetupHits may modify or end the contest, and may disqualify entries that abuse it. Results are final once published.
